What requirements are you thinking of?
The iPhone platform is standard. If an app works on one, it works on the next.

Well , it says "NOT COMPATIBLE: This application is not compatible with this Iphone", I have an 8GB iphone thats about 1 year old

What iPhone software version are you using?
Dictionary requires iPhone software version 2.2. This is mentioned in the app download page.
