interval plus 2 seconds?

Post by nemo » Mon Jan 04, 2010 9:43 pm

Hi, fairly new timelapse user here... I have a 32GB 3GS (MC133X) running version 3.1.2 (7D11).

Loving timelapse (better than the other two timelapse apps I looked at), however the delay between pictures is off by 2 seconds.

That is, when I set the delay to 2minutes, images are saved every 2minutes and 2 seconds. For example from this morning:

Code: Select all

-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  535K 2010-01-05 05:53:01.000000000 +1000 IMG_0625.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  522K 2010-01-05 05:55:03.000000000 +1000 IMG_0626.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  527K 2010-01-05 05:57:05.000000000 +1000 IMG_0627.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  521K 2010-01-05 05:59:07.000000000 +1000 IMG_0628.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  500K 2010-01-05 06:01:09.000000000 +1000 IMG_0629.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  492K 2010-01-05 06:03:11.000000000 +1000 IMG_0630.JPG

Similarly I just tested with a 28 second delay within TimeLapse, and images were saved with a 30 second delay:

Code: Select all

-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  979K 2010-01-05 14:50:19.000000000 +1000 IMG_0699.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  966K 2010-01-05 14:50:49.000000000 +1000 IMG_0700.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  968K 2010-01-05 14:51:19.000000000 +1000 IMG_0701.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  968K 2010-01-05 14:51:49.000000000 +1000 IMG_0702.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  977K 2010-01-05 14:52:19.000000000 +1000 IMG_0703.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  975K 2010-01-05 14:52:49.000000000 +1000 IMG_0704.JPG
-rw-rw-r--. 1 owenc  976K 2010-01-05 14:53:19.000000000 +1000 IMG_0705.JPG

(images retrieved from iPhone via gphoto2 on Fedora11, output shown is `ls -oh --full-time`. I have no reason to believe that the delay is introduced by this transfer method. Other timelapse apps I have checked have not exhibited this delay.

I have, to date, only used the free version. Purchasing now (literally as I type this post), so I will be testing that later today.

As it seems to be consistently a 2second delay, it's easy to compensate, but nonetheless, detracts from an otherwise excellent application. thankyou! :)

Good catch. It sounds highly plausible and I'll be sure to take a look into where the extra 2 seconds are coming from. Thanks.
